“Decades have passed by and the hapless and innocent people of Jammu and Kashmir are still looking towards the international community to fulfil the promises made through UN Security Council’s multiple resolutions, demanding a free and impartial plebiscite for Kashmiris to exercise their inalienable right to self-determination”, the Ambassador of Pakistan in Brazil His Excellency Mr. Najm us Saqib observed while addressing a function arranged at the Embassy of Pakistan, Brasilia, today, to commemorate the Kashmir Black Day. Reiterating Pakistan’s principled stand on Kashmir, he declared that Pakistan would keep extending moral, diplomatic and political support to the people of Jammu and Kashmir in their just cause.

The speakers highlighted the importance of the Black Day with reference to the massive human rights violations in IOK at the hands of Indian occupied forces. The event was attended by members of civil society, representatives of Pakistani community, representatives of Kashmiri community and officials of the Embassy of Pakistan. 

Messages of the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan were also read out.

During an interaction with Brazilian media personnel, organized at the Embassy of Pakistan today, leading Brazilian journalists were briefed on Kashmir dispute and the massive human rights violations committed by the Indian Security Forces in the Indian Occupied Kashmir. The journalists thanked the Embassy officials for an update on one of the most important issues facing the international community.
